Have you been wondering what you can do about suicide due of bullying?

4 hours of your time could change or save someone's life

I was talking to David (my partner in Mental Health Partners) and he said 'when people ask me what I do, I don't say I train Mental Health First Aid, I say, I change people's lives'.

We went on to discuss the many discussions and feedbacks from participants in our courses and I decided he was right, we change people's lives, we even help people save their own or someone else's lives.

We began thinking of the families grieving the loss of a child due to bullying. Many of you must be thinking, 'What can I do to help'?

What can MHPs do?

We can train parents, friends and teachers, coaches and others who come into contact with teenagers in Mental Health First Aid for the Suicidal Person.

This course introduces participants to accurate information about suicide and risk factors in the Australian context. They will be show a video demonstrating how mental health first aid guidelines can be put into practice in a real world scenario.

Participants then learn how to intervene when someone is experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviours. There is lots of time to practice these skills in a safe environment.

We have had lots of positive feedback from parents who tell us that using the guidelines to have discussions with their teenage children has changed their relationships for the better and helped the parents and their teenagers understand depression and suicidal thoughts and behaviours.

Just 4 hours of your time could help.

Please have a look at our up coming courses and book in; either the Standard MHFA course or the MHFA for the Suicidal Person course will give you the skills needed to intervene when someone is having suicidal thoughts or behaviours.

Remember, Mental Health is everyone's business
